Physical Description
When you first come across Hazelstripe, at first look she may appear to be a badger. But that is just an optical illusion. She is a feline, obviously. What makes her appear so is mostly due to her size. She was born very chubby and large. To make matters worse she couldn't work off those extra pounds. She was stuck being large forever. Because of it, she was the center of ridicule. "Badger", "the thing", and "dog" were among the many insults.
Hazelstripe's fur also added to her misfortune. Her fur is a deep honey color, with a bright golden hue. A myriad of stripes and spots zigzag across her pelt. Her tail is bushy and has a darker, browner tint. Her eyes shine a dark green, with a little twinge of blue.
Personality
Hazelstripe isn't your run-of-the-mill, average cat. She is unlike anyone you will ever meet. At first glance, she seems like the kind, gentle, stereotypical image of a medicine cat. But, one fact, proves that wrong - she's the farthest thing away from that.
Hazelstripe is often all-business and rash. Sympathy and subtlety are obviously not her forte. She is very bold and blunt. Definitely not the cat you would be saying would "beat aroud the bush". She is a master of sarcasm. In her early days as an apprentice, she was rebellious and rude. But fortunately she has learned some manners.
History
Hazelstripe was born on a dark, stormy night to Barkclaw and Gingerflower with one other unnamed sibling that died shortly after birth from suffocation. For her large size, she was the center of ridicule and grew rebellious. She was the kind of cat who would sneak out of camp without any second thoughts.
At 10 moons, during her assessment, she was attacked by rats. She was rushed to the medicine cat den. She has innumerable scratches and bites, alot of which were infected. She spent several days in the medicine cat den, thinking "if I were medicine cat, I could help cats like me, sick or injured." She thought about this for several moons. One day, she finally summed up the courage to aks the current medicine cat, Grayclaw. The medicine cat was delighted. She started a half-moon later. When she turned 18 moons, Grayclaw died, and Hazelstripe became medicine cat.

"Hold still!"
The little kit yelped as Hazelstripe struggled to get the thorn out of its pad. The thorn finally gave through. "Ow!" the kit said. "Oh calm down, Cherrykit. It's just a thorn. Not the end of the world. So hush up," Hazelstripe said rashly, turning around to check on another patient. "How's the leg, Ottertail?"
"God, thank you." The dark brown warrior started limping around the den, trying to impress Hazelstripe.
"Mmm, very good. At this rate, you'll be out of this den in a couple days," she commented. She turned back to Cherrykit. "You can go now."
The little ginger kit limped toward her mother, Fireflower, who was watching from across the clearing.
"HAZELSTRIPE!"
She spun around to see Lilypaw racing across to her, her long, white pelt shining under the sun.
"Yes?"
"Bluetail's got a bellyache!"
Hazelstripe sighed. "Bring her to me."
Lilypaw ran to the elders den and came back with a bluish-gray she-cat. Bluetail moaned pitifully.
"Give her some water for the moment," Hazelstripe said, searching her troves of remedies for watermint.
Hazelstripe finally found it in between some comfrey and lavender. "Here. Chew it and get some rest."
The old elder chewed it as she walked back to the elders' den.
"Aw. Finally some peace and quiet," she said, sighing.
"HAZELSTRIPE! HAZELSTRIPE! HAZELSTRIPE!"
"Nevermind."
