Clovepaw was practically bouncing. Her paws felt so light they could have been made of feathers, and her heart was pounding with excitement. She knew she shouldn't be out on the moor on her own, especially seeing as she hadn't told anyone where she'd gone. Yet it had been so long since she'd felt so free. It reminded her a bit of her kithood days, when rules and restrictions mattered much less. Now that she was an apprentice, she was constantly being told, "Don't do this, Clovepaw," and, "Don't do that, Clovepaw." "Rules, rules, rules..." she muttered under her breath.
Without thinking about what she was doing, she sprinted down one of the hills and back up again. Exhilarated, she did it again and then paused to catch her breath. You're about as mature as a newborn, she told herself and then giggled without being able to help herself.
She was slightly put off by the fact that no one was there to share her fun, but she reminded herself that most cats didn't find running up and down hills very entertaining. Even as she was thinking this thought, another thought was forming. She could go anywhere.

Rainpaw leapt forward over the grassy field, eyes narrowed against the rising sun. The apprentice lowered her nose to the ground, scenting. Nothing. She growled to herself. How could she catch anything if there was nothing around to catch? Suddenly a scent hit her nose, but it wasn't prey. A cat?
Rushing up to the top of a hill, Rainpaw saw her fellow apprentice. "Clovepaw!" she called, wondering what she was doing out there. Whatever it was, she looked like she was having fun...

ooc;; What a strange little apprentice Clovepaw is. xD
bic;; Clovepaw froze, and then slowly turned around. To her relief, it was just Rainpaw; surely she wouldn't give Clovepaw away. Clovepaw looked back at the hill longingly, but padded towards Rainpaw anyway. She'd find some other time to continue her ridiculous activity -- or maybe Rainpaw would join her!
"Hello Rainpaw," she mewed happily. "What are you doing here?" As far as Clovepaw could tell, Rainpaw had disappeared from camp as well. Or maybe she received permission to go off hunting or something, as responsible apprentices tended to do. Well, she thought defiantly, responsible apprentices never have any fun.

((Responsible...right...>.> xD))
Rainpaw smiled as Clovepaw came up to her. "Well," she answered, "I was going to go hunting and catch something. The fresh-kill pile was low, so I thought I should hunt... but I haven't found anything yet," she added, slightly irritated. She wanted to be a master hunter. But at this rate, she was never going to be a hunter at all...
Curious blue eyes focused on Clovepaw, Rainpaw asked, "What are you doing here?"

"Me?" Clovepaw asked, as if there was anyone else around. "Oh...I was just...running up and down that hill...would you like to join me?" She was aware of how crazy she sounded, but she hardly cared. It was fun, feeling the cool breeze flow through your pelt as you plummeted down the hillside. "You never know," she added brightly, "we might find a rabbit hopping down the hill." She neglected to mention that when she went, she went so fast she could hardly see a thing, let alone catch a rabbit.

Rainpaw looked at the hill. Running up and down a hill? What good would that do?... But it sounded kinda fun... And maybe if they ran over hills they could find a hint of some prey she could catch! She wasn't finding anything else anyway...
"You're just...running up and down?" she asked, eying the hill. Throwing caution to the wind, she leapt down onto the hillside and began running, almost falling over her own paws. "Whooohooo!" she meowed, grinning from ear to ear with excitement.

"Yes...just running up and down..." She laughed as Rainpaw sprinted down the hill. "Much more fun than you'd think, isn't it?" she called down, feeling her own excitement start up again.
She too raced down the hill in delight, feeling much more alive than she usually felt. She skidded to a halt at the bottom, still laughing.
ooc;; Sorry, short post. D: My muse has evaded me again.

((I'm trying to do too many things at once ^^; ) Rainpaw continued running as she reached the bottom of the hills, trying to stay on her feet and not fall over. For a moment she considered slowing down and stopping to catch her breath, which was coming in short gasps, but she didn't. Instead, she began to speed up, taking longer strides and narrowing her eyes against the wind as she neared another hill and began to climb up its side. Her tail streamed out behind her and her strides started to shorten a little, and she could feel her heart pounding with adrenaline in her chest.

((What are you two on? o.o))
--enter an adult that doesn't know how to have any fun (Russetleaf)--
Huge ginger paws crushed the grass as Russetleaf trotted over the crest of a hill, his mouth open to catch the scent of rabbit. Or, anything else he could find.
A gust of wind blew past his face, tugging at his fur. He had to dig his claws in to keep himself steady. What was that? It was running so fast... He tilted his head in confusion.
Another one whizzed past, and he caught the drifting scent of Clovepaw hanging in the air. What was she doing out here? As far as he knew she was back in camp. But then, he didn't know everything that was going on...
His vivid green eyes, like color of leaves in greenleaf, followed the apprentice up and down the hill. "Clovepaw! What are you doing out here so early in the morning, running up and down hills?" He didn't notice Rainpaw until he had spoken, but he didn't say anything. He kneaded his paws, waiting for either cat to respond.

Rainpaw bounded farther up the hill, panting with exertion but still smiling. The closer she got to the top, the more she slowed down, until her leaps were long and slow. When she finally reached the crest, she collapsed on the ground, laughing and gasping for breath.
After a moment she sat up, tail flicking back and forth with happiness, and it was only then that she spied Russetleaf across the grass. "Russetleaf!" she called with her remaining breath to her mentor, but was too tired to get up.

"Rainpaw!" the ginger tom growled, flexing his claws. "I didn't know you were out here. Why didn't you tell me of your leaving, before you left? Apprentices just can't go out on their own; it's for their own safety."
His gaze traveled across the hill to where Clovepaw was, and he shook his head. "We all need to go back to camp," he shouted, hoping the ginger apprentice would hear. "You shouldn't be out without other cats knowing. I'll take you to Flightstar."
He flicked his tail and sat down.

Windflight stared at the younger cats with a glint of humor in his blue eyes. The wind blew through his silver-gray fur, ruffling it. Noticing Russetleaf, he mewed out a warm greeting. "Hello, Russetleaf. Great morning, huh?" The young warrior tom bounded up the hill, paws crushing the grass lightly. When he reached the crest, he dropped down, lying on the ground, staring up into the sky where, at night, his ancestors could be seen.

Russetleaf narrowed his eyes at Windflight. "Yes, it is a wonderful morning," he replied evenly. "But this is a morning two apprentices shouldn't be out alone. In fact, every morning apprentices shoudln't be out alone. They need to tell their mentors something!"
Still rather annoyed about that, he glanced up to check the location of the sun. It wasn't fully over the horizon yet ((?)).

"Yeah, We should get back to camp." Windflight rolled his eyes lightly at the other tom, and walked back down the hill towards camp. A butterfly flickered past him. Windflight blinked at it, then trained his gaze in front of him again. The breeze still felt nice as it blew through his fur.

Rainpaw fixed her bright blue eyes on Russetleaf as he called to her, and sighed. Always those same lines: "Don't go out alone, it's for your own safety". Wearily she pushed herself up and padded down the hill, muttering to Clovepaw on the way, "I suppose we'd better go before we get in more trouble..." The apprentice's eyes shined with indignation as she walked up to Russetleaf. "You're with us now, though," she suggested. "Can't we go hunting while we're out? The fresh-kill pile's getting low."
