"I suppose we must," Clovepaw murmured, her eyes flashing in annoyance. Why did adults always have to ruin her fun? She turned to Russetleaf reluctantly, wishing the ginger warrior would simply go away. It seemed like older cats never had any time for fun; they took everything much too seriously. "Hunting, yes -- the fresh-kill pile is getting low!" Clovepaw glanced anxiously from Russetleaf to Windflight and back again. She was afraid of how Flightstar would react when she found out, and Clovepaw wanted to put off the confrontation as much as possible. Besides, hunting would be distracting.

Russetleaf met the apprentice's eyes, and he seemed to guess what she was thinking. He was about to respond about how 'warriors always ruined fun', but he guessed his words would be wasted on the young Clovepaw. Experience made a warrior, not age.
The ginger tom sighed at the suggestion. "Hunting would be nice. We'll hunt on the way back, just to pick up some prey along the way." He lifted his chin slightly and looked down at her, murmuring, "I don't know what Flightstar will punish you, if she will at all, but here's some advice: Expect the worst, hope for the best."
With that, he rose to his paws, flicked his tail, and started to lead the way back to the camp.

Expect the worst, hope for the best.
Rainpaw rolled her eyes slightly as Russetleaf turned around. What was wrong with going out for a hunt in the morning? It wasn't like they had gotten hurt or anything. In fact, if they'd been able to stay out longer, they may have actually caught something, and then the Clan would be thankful she'd been out. Instead, she should expect the worst? What was the point in that? Just another thing to weigh on her shoulders.
But, at least they got to hunt. Maybe she could still find some prey to catch before they got to camp. StarClan, Flightstar might not even punish them at all if they did well...
With this thought in mind, Rainpaw bounded forward and walked to the side of and right behind her mentor, ears up and scanning the grassy area around them for any sign of prey.

Clovepaw snorted at Russetleaf's words, knowing it was disrespectful but hardly caring. Oh well; they were going hunting. Even so, Clovepaw couldn't help feeling miserable as she padded along, watching for any sign of movement.
Scowling, she avoided the other cats' eyes and concentrated on the ground below her paws and surrounding areas. She didn't understand why she was so angry herself, or felt so disappointed. But if Flightstar's exiled her...where would she go? The thought of living as a rogue terrified her, whatever her Clanmates said about her mother being a rogue.

Stalking up to the group of warriors and apprentices, Hawkwing glowered at them. "I heard that," he meowed stiffly to the warriors. "Flightstar wont punish you badly because she's nice enough as it is," he contiunued, his voice layered in scorn. StarClan only knew how Flightstar could be so mousebrained. She should really punish her Clan. "If you guys are hunting, I'll tag along," he added before they could say anything, his poision green eyes glinting.

Russetleaf's fur bristled as the ginger apprentice snorted. She could be so mousebrained sometime. He didn't have time to argue before his Clanmate and, Hawkwing, seemed to appear out of nowhere.
The ginger tom narrowed his eyes. Why was his deputy so agressive and disrespectful at points? Sometime it annoyed him to no end.
The warrior blinked, with a nod. "Sure, go ahead and come along with us. Though this many cats might scare off prey."
He chose his words carefully, making sure that he didn't sound annoyed.

Rainpaw looked up as she heard a new voice to find it was Hawkwing. What was he doing here? Was every cat out on the Moors today?
She said nothing, but thought about what the deputy had told them. Of course Flightstar was nice -- Rainpaw loved their leader -- but it wasn't like they were doing anything worth StarClan's scorn, right?
Then she remembered they were on a hunt, and felt excitement tingle through her paws again. Bounding forward a bit, she scented the air, mouth open slightly, and turned back to Russetleaf. "I think I smell something," she meowed. "I think it's...rabbit. A little ways off."

Hawkwing fell to the back of the group, keeping his eyes on all of them with such a burning intensity, it was a surprise he didn't scorch off their fur. "Well, let's get on with it," he said in a flat tone, slightly interested in how they would hunt. If they missed even one thing, he'd have something to say about it.
