Night had been trying to regain even the smallest scrap of dignity when those words hit her like a ton of bricks. She opened her eyes and glared at him for a moment but when he said he was leaving horror swept over her face. Long legs were tangled as she scrambled to her paws and jumped over him. Landing in front of him her leg gave out and she stumbled a little before spinning around. Eyes flashed as they met his and than she just glared at him before her lip curled. No one knew better than Night that the dead wouldn't come back, but right now it was like her dad had come back from the dead. What was she supposed to do?! Jump around like a happy little kit and let everything be alright?! Growl rumbled in her chest before she said in a cold harsh voice that she was more than sure her father had never heard leave her lips," Excuse me if you were gone and I thought that you were dead! You don't know how many nightmears I've had! Grieving is how I know I'm alive!" Several curses were spat at him after that as she snarled at him and stepped forwards, finally trusting her paws to move.
Still growling, her tail lashing back and forth, she looked at him and said," I'm not a kitten anymore dad, and you're the reason I'm half beaten." Teeth were bared at him in a harsh way before she continued in an eerily calm voice," I'm weak because everytime I close my d**n eyes I see mom's broken body, stained with blood and her bright yellow eyes lifeless as stone. I can't sleep because I hear Yarrowbite's screeches as those rogues ripped his stomach open. I try and sleep and I see Juniperpaw... dead. I know you remember that dad, and then there are nights when I close my eyes and my imagination would show me every possible scenario to what might of happened to you." Her voice had grown gradually smaller and she was now whispering," I am no burden to my clan dad. I may be a nusance at times but never a burden. I tried not to grieve... but when its stuck in your head, every horrific scene and yowl..... its kind of hard to live down. Leave now if you really want, but I guarantee that if you ever return to Nightclan... you will never see Nightrunner again because she'll be just an unhappy memory in all these cat's heads." That said she looked at him with cold and dull eyes before stepping to the side and walking slowly back towards Dawncloud.

Dawncloud wished she had something to say, but saying something could offend either one of these cats. She was happy to see the tom who rescued her back, but she did not like the way he was treating his daughter. Tough love stinks, she though as she got up and moved toward Nightrunner to comfort her. Rasping her tongue over Nightrunner's ear she looked at Bloodclaw with a glare, but it was not as intense as it could have been. "Night," Dawncloud strained to say, since she knew only those near to Nightrunner could call her that, "would you like to go back to camp and rest? I'm sure your tired and hungry, we could hunt on the way there." Turning to Bloodclaw she said, "You may come as well since, you still are a NightClan cat, but i don't want to hear one hiss or growl from you," she then looked at Nightrunner and herself, "from any of us."

B L O O D C L A W 'You think you had it bad? Try being me...' >> Bloodclaw listened to her words quietly, his face blank and his gaze staring directly through her. He knew what she felt, he knew what she saw. At least she could do things to escape the pain, no matter how short that may be. He didn't have a choice but to think about that fateful night. He was alone for two moons at the cutter's and only a week before the third moon he was going to be there, was he what they called, a miracle. His mother said he was lucky to be even a wake, his leg had been broken in four places and the cutter, whom she called vet, had to screw it back into place with metal plates. San said he nearly lost all his blood by the time they rushed him there. He was a miracle. He didn't feel like one. In all that time he was asleep or just laying there, he couldn't stop the scene playing in his eyes. It played so often, the death of Yarrowbite, who had been a good friend of his. Bloodclaw had tried to help, but the rogue cats had seen him as a fast cat and ganged up on him. Bloodclaw too had been forced to watch Yarrowbite die while his nose was shoved in the ground.
>>Then there was Wintercall's death. The one he tried so hard to prevent when really it was his fault. He wasn't a cat to normally gloat, he had been born a direct descendent from a father who had been the best of his mother's clan, the clan that ran strongly through his blood. He was designed for fighting and running, but during that one time, with Wintercall fighting at his side, he stopped to smile at his dying opponent for trying to kill his mate. Another cat had seen his opening and also Wintercall's, being she had her paws full with two rogues. The scene played across his mind as he closed his dull eyes. "Bloodclaw! Watch out!" Bloodclaw heard her cry out his name. He spun, she had turned to look at him. Watched with horrified eyes as a cat behind her sailed through the air towards her. He dropped into a crouch, ready to leap over her and tackle the cat in midair. He didn't. Claw crashed into his face with the force of a ThunderPath monster. The claws raked over his nose, splattering hot, burning blood into his left eye and exploding his head in pain. Bloodclaw's cry of pain was nothing compared to Wintercall's cry of rage. Bloodclaw dropped senseless to the floor, giving a strangled cry when his attacking cat landed on him. He felt and heard his leg snap beneath the weight, agony shooting up his limb and down his spin. The pain alone from it almost made him pass out. He looked at Wintercall and watched, watched her throat get ripped out, watched his mate's body drop to the ground. Watched her life leak away as she fell to the ground, her legs twitching as she whispered his name until she was no longer there.'
>> Bloodclaw opened his eyes and stared after his daughter. He turned around slowly, his right fore limb in the air. Looking at it now, one could see the slight crooked look to it. Bloodclaw couldn't stop the words coming from his mouth, but they weren't of anger like they normally would have been. His voice was strained, so hard it was a hoarse croak and his eyes began to shine with something moist. "They never found my body, they found my blood leading out of camp. The rogues took me with them, said I'd be a good practice dumby for their kids. Do you really have so little faith in me, Night, that I would die so easily? Did you want me to die, for you so readily believed what they told you? Did you really believe that I wouldn't return? Yes, I admit it, I could have come sooner, but until a week ago, I couldn't walk. I couldn't see anything, even when my eyes were open, I had not choice but to watch their deaths. I had been in denial, not wanting them to be dead, your mother must of all, but it sank in. It was only the thought that I could see you one last time that kept me going on. I know what it is like Nightrunner, to lose family, I left my mother and sister, I don't even know if Autumnstep is alive. And I told you how close we were, your mother knew, she had met her at one time. But now...I can't see your mother's smiling face, her laughing eyes, feel her soft touch or hear her warm voice because she's gone...all because of my foolish mistake. It's my fault she's gone..." Bloodclaw looked down at his paws at finally, the tears fell. They splashed into the snow, melting it with their hot temperature. Bloodclaw felt his legs quiver and the pain in his bad limb became all the more prosistent on being noticed. Bloodclaw shook his head upon Dawncloud's offer. "I'm sorry, Dawncloud, but I can't show my face in their again. They know I am alive at the least. Once you get there, you can tell them it was my fault she died and that I didn't have the strength nor guts to show up until now." Bloodclaw turned away and began limping back into the forest. There was no way now that he could return, not know Nightrunner would blame him for his mother's death. "If only I had not stopped in the d**n glory of the f**king moment. She'd still be here.'

Night listened to him, but never once looked back towards him. She was afraid of the cat she could hear there. A cat that was soo much like herself that it was scary. Would she be that broken when she was older? Was she already like that? Shaking the thoughts from her head she heard him blame himself for Wintercall's death, and heard the pain that Night would have to little hope in him. She'd tried to wait up every night for him. Hoping that he'd come home and things would be better. After a moon she'd worn herself down to much and finally she began to doubt. To doubt that Bloodclaw was truly alive. To doubt that she'd ever see him again. To doubt that he wanted to come back. It was those doubts and the strain on her mind and body that finally brought a breaking point with them. One night she'd sat vigil for her father like before, but the next day she'd run out on every patrol she could manage. No more tears had left her eyes and every nightmare imaginable fell heavy upon her weary mind. The one face that haunted her though was that golden tabby with his bright green and amber eyes. Those eyes haunted her every step nearly more than the deep amber ones of Juniperpaw.
'Night! Wait up! Not all of us can be amazing runners!' the voice was happy and sarcastic and came from the gray tabby that was sprinting after the only running Nightpaw. She'd told him that she smelled something funny and wanted to find what it was. Now they were running through the forest, leaving the rest of their patrol behind. Her father was with the patrol but she didn't think he'd notice her absense until they stopped to check all the scent markers. Nightpaw had scented something nasty and tangy, something new! Now she led Juniperpaw towards it. It was a shame that Yarrowpaw couldn't of come. Giving a shrug the black she skidded to a halt and soon enough the gray tabby tumbled to a stop beside her. He wrinkled his nose as the horrible stench hung heavy in the air. Auds went back before he murmured,' Come on Night, lets get back to the rest of the patrol. Your dad'll have our pelts!' Night ignored him though as her muscles quivered in excitement. She'd found the source of the smell! It was then that a horrible roar shook her so hard her teeth clacked against one another. Not even looking she felt hot and rank breath on the left side of her face. The only thing she could do was close her eyes as she waited for the horrible attack. Another roar and than a rumble of pain from the badger as Juniperpaw dug teeth into its back leg. Night's eyes flashed open before she threw herself right at the badger's face. Claws found the beast's eyes but that didn't stop it from hooking a claw into her hip and chucking her from his face and into a tree. Slumping to the ground her head spun as she fought to keep consciousness. She saw the beast coming towards her, despite the hissing and spitting of Juniperpaw it drew closer and closer. Then came the moment she'd always blamed herself for. Juniperpaw threw himself between the oncoming and snarling badger and Night. Jaws clamped around his jaws and then he was gone forever. She'd heard her father's war cry before she'd lost consciousness.
Now she sighed and turned to look at her father. Yellow eyes flashed orange for a moment before the orange retreated and just rimmed her pupils. Her father was crying! This took Night by surprise and she almost didn't hear him say that he was leaving. Horror played across her face before she jumped away from Dawncloud and right to Bloodclaw. She nearly ran right into him but managed to stop herself as she pressed her head into his chest. Tears ran silently down her cheeks as she stood there, pressing herself into his chest and under his chin. This was a pose she'd taken up against her father everytime she needed comfort or was pleading with him. It was something she hadn't done in a long time. Right then she felt like she was six moons again, with a clear twoleg thorn shoved straight into her paw. It was the only way that she'd even let the medicine cat near her, with Bloodclaw standing over her. Now she was trembling against him before she said in a pleading voice," Dad... daddy don't leave me again. Please. It wasn't your fault that mom died. If thats the case than its my fault that Juniperpaw died. Please don't leave again daddy. Please don't leave me again." She was now using a whispered whimper as she pressed herself against him, trying to stop her own trembling and convince him to stay. Night rarely called Bloodclaw 'daddy' , sometimes she didn't even call him dad. He hadn't minded, but in calling him daddy she'd shown just how far she'd fallen since he left, and the state she'd be in if he left again. If he left again, she'd blame herself this time. If he left, she knew in her heart that she probably wouldn't have the will to live anymore. Put simply... she wouldn't let him leave.

Dawncloud stood there smiling at the two cats, happy to see father and daughter reunited. But seeing them together made her heart a little envious. Oh how she wished her father could appear right now so that she could bury her head in his pelt. Yet the chances of that were very slim, and Dawncloud knew she had to stop believing her father would ever return. Dawncloud watched as tears streamed out of the two cats eyes, and so she knew they needed a little time alone. She then turned and began to pad away in the other direction, her golden fur glowing in the light of the sun and rippling at the movements of her muscles. Even though it hurt her to think of her father, it also hurt her to think about closeness to any cat. She really didn't have too many friends in NightClan, not making it such a problem but she wanted that closeness that Night and her father felt. She hoped that Night and her were still close but the thought bugged her non the less. "Wow, i need to stop thinking like this." she hissed at herself lightly, finally stopping near a tree and laying along its roots.

B L O O D C L A W ’I could never truly do that...’ >> Bloodclaw felt dread weigh down at every paw step when Night didn’t say anything at first. He knew what he said wasn’t true, knew that she sat and waited for him for a long time and that when she finally did stop, she had no choice to doubt. It had been three moons with no trace of him. And Yarrowbite’s last view of Bloodclaw before he died was probably when the rogue had thrown Blood to the ground and he had broken his leg. He hadn’t moved after that, the pain from seeing Wintercall’s death and his leg were too much. It was only natural to think him dead by then. His ears twitched at hearing her sigh and paused briefly, as though waiting for her to stop him. He jumped when she bounded up to him, bracing his body in case she ran in to him, but there was no need. His body tense, he was ready for anything she’d throw at him, except for what she did do. He had been waiting for to slap him for his grim thoughts or to tell him off, but not this. When he heard her words though, his body relaxed and he dropped her head, carefully draping his bad limb over her shoulders and pulling her close, holding her there. His heart gave a pull at her words, but he couldn’t stay, could he? The other cats were not so forgivable. The Bloodclaw they knew made no mistakes, did nothing foolish like he had done that night. It would take a long time for them to forget that, if they ever did. But Night’s plea for him to stay with her made his voice hitch in his throat. He watched from the corner of his eye as Dawncloud smiled and left them alone. He’d have to thank her later on, she did more than he thought possible. Finally Blood’s voice whispered in Night’s ear as he pressed his nose into her fur, his eyes blissfully closed. ”I won’t, I promise.”

When Blood embraced her Night felt better than she had before. Giving a small purr she said quietly," Good, now lets get back to camp. I'm sure to get my ears clawed for fighting." There was a slight joking edge to her quiet and still pained voice. Night then backed up a little and looked at the damage that she herself had done. Nose wrinkled slightly before she said," Er... sorry, you want to get those looked at?" Giving a small smile she did say though," I've been practicing fighting though, its becoming harder and harder to find cats to practice with though. Lots of them don't like their bumps and bruises." Yellow eyes gave a small twinkle before one aud drooped tiredly. She gave a small stretch before she reached out and touched her nose to her dad's. Pulling back again she said,"Welcome home dad."
