Scarredpelt walked along the border between HailClan and GustClan with his small patrol. This wasn't the first time he had come this way of course, he's been next to every tree and bush twice. Being a senior warrior did come with a perk or two, the only clanmates he had to take orders from were the deputy and the Clan leader, unless of course the elders gave him an errand that couldn't wait for an apprentice.
As his patrol neared the Sun-Burned Stones he was careful to be more alert. This spot was very close to the Hot Springs in GustClan territory and in leaf-bare a GustClan cat might be tempted to hop across the border for the plentiful pray at the Sun-Burned Stones, something Scarredpelt couldn't and wouldn't tolerate.
But he kept his cool as he led his patrol and signaled with his tail for his patrol to slow their pace. If they were lucky they could stop to hunt as it wasn't against the Warrior Code for border patrols to eat without bringing prey back to camp and it had been awhile since he last ate.

Brownpaw was trudging along behind his mentor Scarredpelt in a very bored and hungry manner. He had virtually forced to go on the border patrol with him on Scarredpelt's excuse that "it would be a good way to know the borders even better"
He noticed that they were nearing the part of the border that was close to the Sun-Burned Stones. He barely noticed his mentors signal to slow down because of his hopeful thoughts of filling his belly with fresh mice. He could just taste them now, the mice during leaf-bare may be on the scrawny side, but they were tasty none-the-less to any cat with an empty belly.
But something seemed a bit off, it seemed too quiet here for some reason, and his mentor seemed a bit tense. 'Something must be up...' he thought and his smelled the air for any signs of other cats.
