Staying low to the ground Shadowflame stalked his prey. As usual the techniques he used were intricate but elegant to watch. On the ground a growing amount of snow was piled, but today it had broke and the hunting would be good. The bottom of Shadowflame's pelt would brush the powdery snow every few seconds, but the chill didn't phase him, he was set onto the trail of the rabbit he had been following from bank of the Shadowed River all the way to the edge of the Badger Set territory.
The rabbits scent was almost completely hidden underneath the mass of badger scent which was overpowering. Most cats could not stand the smell, but a well-focused cat could sift through the smells and keep track of the one he was after. It was a cold Leaf-Bare and the rabbits heartbeat was slowed, and so was Shadowflame's.
Up ahead something moved, covered in snow. It was the rabbit he had been following, it was plump for this time in Leaf-Bare, and would feed a few members of the clan, giving them a bit of food to calm the growling of stomachs. The rabbit continued hoping deeper into the badger family's territory.
Far beneath the ground a handful of badgers slept, the snow about crunched, and the shockwaves of sound weren't enough to reach their ears.- they continued to snore as above ground Shadowflame watched the rabbits movements.
Shadowflame noticed that the rabbit would stop and scratch the snow on its ears, apparently irritating it. Keeping his bright amber eyes on the snow-covered rabbit he stayed low to the ground, letting a good bit of his fur seep into the light snow.
Finally he spotted his chance, a bird that had stayed behind this Leaf-Bare called out. The rabbit's attention was turned from scenting the air and watching its surroundings to looking for the source of the noise. Shadowflame leapt onto the rabbit and gave it a good smack with his paw, he then went in for the killing bite.- taking the stunned rabbit out its life before it had a chance to notice pain.
Keeping track of the time of the day, Shadowflame quickly picked up the rabbit which he had risked his tail to get for his clan. Moving swiftly through the snow he broke into a quiet run that carried him farther away from the badger set.
