A Little History
Centuries ago mankind found out about demons and demonic spirits. Humans were afraid of these spirits and waged war against them. Four demon leaders rose up from among the fighters: Ulgan, Culdor, Durant, and Tiebs.
Ulgan and Culdor were not the typical demonic spirits. These two demons understood the humans and their fear of the demonic kinds. They made an allegiance with leaders of the Human world and gathered as many good-spirited demons as they could. Durant and Tiebs, however, refused. They disliked the humans as much as the humans feared them.
But not all of the humans accepted the demons on Ulgan and Culdor's side. They wanted nothing to do with demons at all, and therefore hunted them. The demons, not being forced into hiding by their own kind and by humans, began to mutate over time. They discovered, after about two centuries of living underground and away from the light that they had all gained another power: the power to appear human at will.
For the evil demons, this meant they could go to the Upper world and torment the humans the way they were tormented. To the good ones, this caused a problem. Now, how did they know who they were trusting? Could they really trust anyone?
The battle finally stopped when the demons moved among the humans as humans. They changed their identities and acted completely normal. They didn't use their powers in front of the humans at all if they could help it. The demons knew not to draw attention to themselves. But the demons still fought among themselves. The good gangs moved to the uppermost part of Tempor and the evils stayed in the lowermost areas.
The demon leaders are dead now, three of the four dying from battle. Durant lived longer than they, dying of age. All four had created their own family-like gang of demons to carry on their work: either defending the world, or destroying it. Durant was the only leader who refused to let anyone else lead his gang. Only those of his blood could lead it. It remains this way to this very day.
Now a few humans are beginning to discover the demons. Some of them have evolved their minds enough to not be afraid. Others, on the other hand, have not. It's up to you and the rest of your Gang to finish on in the work you've chosen to do. Whether the work be good... or bad.
